How Human-Only Works
Every model on 3D Models Community is created by a person, not generated by AI. Here’s how the community keeps it that way.
Creator Attestation
When you upload a model, you confirm that it is your own human-made work. This self-attestation is a conscious commitment — not a checkbox buried in terms of service.
Attestation covers the 3D model files themselves. Using AI tools for secondary tasks like writing descriptions is fine, but the design must be created by a person.
Community Reporting
Any community member can report a model they believe was AI-generated. The “Suspected AI-generated” report category exists specifically for this purpose.
At a practical level, this means content that shows telltale signs of AI generation — unnatural topology, floating geometry, impossible overhangs that no designer would intentionally create, or visual patterns common to generative models.
Reports are anonymous to the model author. You don’t need proof to file a report — reasonable suspicion is enough for the system to take a closer look.
Jury Review
When a model receives enough reports, it enters the jury review system. A panel of 9 eligible community members is randomly selected to review the content.
Jurors review the model in a blind format — they don’t see the author’s identity, social signals, or specific report reasons. This prevents bias and ensures decisions are based on the content itself.
Each juror votes independently and provides a written rationale. A supermajority is required for a binding verdict. Close or split decisions are escalated to moderators for a final call.
The platform tracks juror accuracy over time. Jurors whose decisions consistently align with outcomes carry more weight, building a self-improving moderation system.
Enforcement Outcomes
Enforcement is tiered based on the severity and context of the violation:
- No violation — The model is cleared and remains visible. The creator is not penalized.
- Hidden — The model is removed from public listings but can still be accessed by the author. They can appeal or edit and resubmit.
- Removed — The model is fully removed from the platform. Repeat violations may result in account restrictions.
Enforcement is carried out by the community and moderators together. No single person makes removal decisions unilaterally.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use AI tools in any part of my workflow?
The attestation applies to the 3D model itself. Using AI to help write a description, generate tags, or plan a design is acceptable. The model geometry must be human-created.
What happens if I’m wrongly reported?
If the jury finds no violation, your model stays up and you face no penalty. If a decision goes against you, you can submit an appeal with evidence supporting your case.
Is the detection system perfect?
No automated system is perfect, and we don’t claim ours is. That’s exactly why we rely on human reviewers — community members and moderators — rather than purely algorithmic detection.
How are jurors selected?
Jurors are randomly selected from eligible community members who meet minimum karma and account-age requirements. They cannot have prior interactions with the reported model to prevent conflicts of interest.
