This is a quick little set of modules that I made in openscad to quickly generate dovetails to join two objects together.Hopefully these will be useful to someone...The included STL file is just a sample of the output. --- Imported from Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:10269 Original creator: jag

Inspired by all the modded Makerbots and Mendels at the Makerfaire last weekend, I designed these mendel styled bearing outriggers for my rattly X-axis carriage. This slides super smooth and quiet and has definitely improved output quality, especially on tall prints. Mounting holes could be a bit better situated, but it works and doesn't bump into anything. note: Small revision to the 180 piece on 9/29 - I added pockets in the reinforcement bump to accommodate the bolt heads. 11/11 I added files for the individual pieces by request --- Imported from Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4239 Original creator: Zydac

After losing some hair over the issue, and with some help from Marius Kintel, I was finally enlightened as to why my dodecahedron was not coming out properly. This thing represents some forms of the dodecahedron. In particular, it is combinations of the dual forms (dodecahedron/icosahedron). The .stl files are printed with a radius of 20mm, but you can change that to whatever you want either in the OpenScad, or by scaling. The 'difference' form is probably the most interesting. It makes for a fairly decent calibration piece. It has some nicely sloping overhangs, bridges, and flat spots. I makes for some good tuning between ABS and PLA as well. The challenge with the dodecahedron had to do with OpenScad not being happy with the pentagons I was trying to print. They had to be broken down into triangles, which Marius conveniently did for me. --- Imported from Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:11224 Original creator: WilliamAAdams

I made this model in sketchup following instructions found in the video http://mathforum.org/sketchup/videos.html. Bonnie Roskes (of 3DVinci) made this video, and has many other excellent sketchup tutorials on the site: http://mathforum.org/sketchup/index.html. There is a nice page for this shape on Wikipedia as well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stellated_octahedron --- Imported from Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3219 Original creator: Wootfish

This is designed to be screwed into a wall so that you can hang a wine glass from it and free up valuable cupboard space. This was designed to accomodate some comically large wine glasses given to us by my mother-in-law, so it should be pretty one-size-fits-all (May not work with wine glass that can hold an entire bottle featured in sky-mall. YMMV.) --- Imported from Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:15237 Original creator: chris

After playing around with fillets on this thing: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:8416 I was determined to create a generalized Bezier function for usage in OpenScad. This thing, or rather the OpenScad file, is public domain code for creating Bezier curves within OpenScad. It is a foundational piece. It will only create Bezier curves defined by 4 control points. Those are typically the most useful in hand constructed graphics as found in OpenScad.Hopefully this little piece of goodness will enable people to create very curvacious things in OpenScad. Extending the function to 3D can be easily done.UPDATE: Added a couple more pictures that show different ways of using the beast. Perhaps the coolest is using a Bezier curve to change color over the surface of the object. --- Imported from Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:8443 Original creator: WilliamAAdams

A little parametric turbine. The openscad program is quite adjustable.I was not at all scientific about designing this. I just designed it look somewhat good. There are probably many ways to make it more efficient. It spins quite well if you blow into it or hold a balloon to the inlet. You can see a quick video of it here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/53725866@N07/5417888910/ --- Imported from Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6095 Original creator: jag

More Eggbot plots. pattern2-767.svg is the nicest of the three. It was generated to be 1125 pixels high and then vertically shrunk to 66.667% of its original height. That then gives an egg-suitable aspect ratio. The other two plots, pattern2-800.svg and pattern2-1000.svg are, respectively, 800 and 1000 pixels high. They are more appropriate for plotting on spheres as they have 1:1 aspect ratios. The supplied Python program generates the 800 pixel high variant. Change the HEIGHT variable setting for a 1000 pixel high plot. --- Imported from Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5423 Original creator: dnewman
